This is a version of SKIP that almost got made, but I'm glad it didn't. There were various reasons for changing the end gag to the train instead of the bandit mistaking Arthur for a ghost (Arthur being a purely black and white character), but it's still interesting to see what could have been.

SKIP character designs
So I've been drawing in my old style again quite a lot, and it's interesting to go back into my sketchbook to find the sketches that led up to it- especially for the characters that never appeared in the short but would have a place in the feature film I dreamed up based on Arthur and Mesi.
The last sets are how Arthur ended up looking in the final version of SKIP and a very quick sketch of him on the fly at work (took at 30 seconds I think?)
I'm still fairly chuffed at how he turned out :)

Casualties
So on the SPG website they have a little timeline oh the history of the automatons, and it mentions that they helped in WWI by getting people out of the mustard gas.
Of course, my brain takes this rather charming and kind idea and turns it into something morbid and traumatic.
Good practice at drawing horses though. I love drawing horses.
